HeyGen Alternatives: 5 AI Video Tools for Different Jobs
HeyGen became the default answer to "how do I make a video without filming myself." Upload a short clip, get a digital twin, type a script, done. Add translation into dozens of languages, and it's genuinely impressive.
But "AI avatar video" now covers very different jobs: training videos, ad creatives, social posts, cinematic content. HeyGen isn't the best at all of them. Here are five alternatives, each for a different job. Disclosure: Sharevia is ours.
HeyGen in brief
As of October 2026, HeyGen has a free plan (three videos a month, up to one minute each), Creator at $29 a month ($24 billed yearly) with 1080p, voice cloning and 175+ languages, Pro at $49 a month with 4K, and Business at $149 a month plus seats. Full details in HeyGen pricing.
1. Synthesia: for polished presenter videos
Synthesia is built for training, onboarding and explainers. Free plan with 10 minutes; Starter $29 a month; Pro $89 a month with personal avatars.
Pick it for: corporate and educational video where polish and consistency matter. Synthesia vs HeyGen goes deeper.
2. Arcads: for UGC-style ads
Arcads has a large library of AI actors (it advertises more than 1,000) designed to look like real customers filming on their phones, plus ad templates and newer video models. Pricing is shown after sign-up.
Pick it for: paid social ads that need to look native. See Arcads alternatives for its competitors.
3. Creatify: for ads plus research
Creatify combines AI actors with ad templates and, on Pro ($99 a month), a competitor ad tracker. Starter is $39 a month; there's a free plan.
Pick it for: performance marketers producing many ad variations.
4. Higgsfield: for creative range
Higgsfield isn't an avatar tool first; it's a creative studio with many image and video models, including Seedance 2.0 and Kling 3.0 on its Plus plan. It also has an AI influencer feature. Starter $19 a month, Plus $59 ($47 yearly).
Pick it for: distinctive visuals and cinematic shots rather than a person reading a script.
5. Sharevia: for social-first content
Sharevia (ours) focuses on content for TikTok, Instagram and Shorts: AI influencers with consistent faces via character sheets, UGC-style videos, hook-and-demo videos, slideshows, and scheduling in one place. From $25 a month.
Pick it for: a steady stream of social posts with a recurring face. Not ideal for: a training library or translating long videos into many languages, where HeyGen and Synthesia are stronger.

How to evaluate an AI avatar tool
Whichever tools you shortlist, test the same things:
- Lip-sync quality on a fast-paced sentence.
- Natural movement: blinking, head motion, gestures.
- Voice: does it sound like a person or a reading machine?
- Your own avatar: if you'll use a digital twin, does it look like you from the first frame?
- Turnaround time from script to video.
- Export options: resolution, aspect ratio, captions.
- Cost per finished minute at your expected volume.
Ten minutes of testing on these will tell you more than any comparison table.
Ethical use of avatars and digital twins
- Only create avatars of people who have agreed to it, with clear permission for how and where the avatar will be used.
- Disclose AI presenters where platforms require it, and don't present scripted avatar content as spontaneous personal testimony.
- Plan for change: if an employee whose avatar you use leaves, have a policy for retiring it.
Our overall take
HeyGen remains a strong default for digital twins and translation. The alternatives win when your job is different: corporate training (Synthesia), ad volume (Arcads, Creatify), creative visuals (Higgsfield), or a recurring social character with posting built in (Sharevia). Match the tool to the job, not the hype.
How to decide
Write down the one video you most need this month. A training module? Synthesia or HeyGen. A Meta ad? Arcads or Creatify. A week of TikToks? Sharevia or HeyGen with a scheduler. A launch film? Higgsfield. Then test the top two with their free options before paying.
And whichever you choose, label realistic AI people in public content. Platforms increasingly expect it; see AI influencer disclosure rules.
